Kevin Holbrough is a versatile musician who continues to be a busy freelance commercial trombonist, jazz artist, brass teacher and principal lecturer on the BA Jazz degree at Leeds Conservatoire,  where he specialises in jazz trombone performance, big band performances and directs ensembles. A respected trombonist, freelance musician and educator, Kevin as an ever expanding discography not only in jazz but a wide range of musical genres, with over twenty seven years of high profile performing experience ranging from brass band playing, pop, latin, jazz, chamber, session work through to appearing on national television.

Kevin has performed with many highly reputable pop artistes, singers, bands, shows and jazz artists throughout the UK and Europe at major venues, clubs, music and Jazz festivals including Glastonbury, The London Palladium, The Royal Albert Hall, London Jazz Café, Royal Concert Hall Glasgow and Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Some personal highlights include performing on ITV’S The Voice UK with William I Am, Tom Jones, Olly Murs and Jennifer Hudson, other pop and commercial work include tours and performances with Shed Seven, Tony Hadley, Martin and Shirley Kemp, Embrace, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Martha Reeves, Jane McDonald, Sean Barry, Engelbert Humperdink, Joe Longthorne, Ronan Keating, Jaki Graham, Ray Quinn, Matt Ford, Anton Du Beke, Snake Davis, Martin Fry and ABC., along with many more. Other performing credits include extensive UK and European show tours with The Rat Pack Live From Las Vegas, Belushi endorsed “The Official Tribute to the Blues Brothers”, 42nd Street, Hairspray with Michael Ball, Legally Blonde, Back To Bacharach, Christmas Carol and The End of the rainbow (Judy Garland Story). Along with numerous recording sessions including ITV’s “Starstruck”, The Wandering Hearts, Keith Hopwood (of Hermans Hermits fame) album Never Too Late, Dave Formula’s Satellite Sweetheart , The Abstract Orchestra, Take That, CBBC “Rastamouse”, Ray Quinn, various jingles/library recordings and numerous other recordings session. He has also completed numerous contracts world-wide performing on the Florida based luxury Cruise Liners of Holland- America Line and P&O Princess based in Miami.

A passionate jazz artist, in 2019 Kevin released his debut quartet album “Influences” on the New Jazz record label, performing alongside leading European jazz artists Dave Newton- Piano, Sebastian De Krom- Drums and Zoltan Dekany- Bass. The recording pays homage to the players who have influenced his own playing, with a mixture of original compositions, arrangements from the great American Songbook and the music of JJ Johnson.

Noted for his melodic and creative approach to improvisation Kevin has performed at major jazz festivals within the UK and Europe with artists such as The Mingus Big Band, Dennis Rollins “Boneyard Group”, Dave Newton, Sebastian De Krom, James Morrison, Phil Woods, Mark Nightingale, Roy Williams, Trevor Mires, Rob McConnell, Alan Barnes, John LaBarbera, Wayne Bergeron, Gordon Goodwin, Julian Joseph, Derek Watkins and Eric Marienthal. He has also performed and recorded as a side man with numerous small creative and jazz ensembles including; The Mingus Big Band, The Jamil Sheriff Octet, Jamil Sheriff Big Band, Descarga, La Gran Descarga, Casa Latina All Stars, Andy Prior Big Band, Simon Read Octet, The Colman Brothers, Sounds of 59, Paul Edis Sextet, Stephen Triffet Celebrates Sinatra, Raymond Gubbay Manchester Concert Orchestra, Wigan Jazz Club Orchestra, NYJO, The Abstract Orchestra, Big Band Supertramp and numerous leading UK Big Bands.
