Graduate from Cuba’s most prestigious music academies Conservatorio Amadeo Roldán (secondary) and Instituto Superior de Arte (higher education), Eduardo Sandoval is considered one of the most enigmatic and most cutting edge contemporary trombone players. He has toured extensively in Cuba and internationally. Most recently he performed in the 2017 International Jazz Day held for the first time ever in Cuba. Other collaborations include Omara Portuondo, Buena Fe (including Venezuelan tour), Raul Paz (including tours in France, Martinique and Guadeloupe), Alain Peréz, Alexander Abreu, Alain Daniel, X Alfonso, Bobby Carcassés, la Big Band de Joaquin Betancourt, Camerata Romeu, la Big Band de Giraldo Piloto, Leoni Torres, Michel Herrera, Yasek Manzano, Isaac Delgado (including US and European tours), Los Van Van and Habana Jazz Collective amongst others and in the recording of many CDs. In November 2014 Sandoval performed his first individual jazz concert with personal compositions as part of his project Habana Jazz at the National Museum of Fine Arts, where he performed two further large concerts in 2015 and 2016.

Sandoval is only the second trombone player ever recorded by Cuba’s national recording company EGREM. His first video Rumbeando con Chano from his debut album Caminos Abiertos received four 2017 LUCAS nominations, including for the category for Best Cuban CD and the album itself won the 2016 Cuban Jazz Award for Best Jazz Album with two additional nominations. Sandoval also received the Reino de este Mundo Award, granted by the Hermanos Said Association for the production of the album. He was further named in the 2012 JoJazz Prize, as well as the Prize in the category “Best Interpretation” in the Contest “Fesvient”.
