Rath Trombones Backs Brass Factor
Brass Factor is back for another blast and we’re thrilled to be sponsoring the UK’s only brass band talent competition as it returns for a sixth successful season.
The next generation of enthusiastic talented musicians are vital for industries such as ours which is why we continually invest in people and projects that give younger musicians a chance. We already support many up and coming musicians and music educators around the world.
Brass Factor is on the same page with us working closely with brass bands on their youth projects to encourage younger talent providing a showcase and the chance to compete in front of world class judges.
Founded by local lad, Alex Bray it is a showcase of some of the best brass bands in the north of England and it also acts as an inspiration to young musicians.
As platinum sponsors we support both the Holmfirth, Picturedrome event and the concert in Wetherby at the Engine Shed where the younger musicians demonstrate just what a contribution to brass and music the competition makes. They tell us how, for many of them it is the highlight of their musical calendar.
It is clearly something they aspire to take part in, giving them as it does the chance to play in front of internationally acclaimed professional judges in a unique formula that is both a competition and a talent show.
Professional judges with years of experience are enthusiastic to take part in the show and Alex works hard to keep people of the calibre of Kevin Wadsworth and Sandy Smith on board supplementing them with the BBC’s David Hoyle and celebrity judges including Brian Turner, who is no mean musician himself.
Alex started Brass Factor as a university project and beyond his passion to promote brass music he raises a lot of money for the nominated charities. This year they are the Town Foundation and Martin House Children’s Hospice, something everyone here at Rath Trombone is very passionate about.
If you’re looking for a brilliant way to spend a Saturday evening in November join us at Brass Factor at the Engine Shed, Wetherby on Saturday 12 and the Holmfirth Picturedrome on Saturday Nov 19.
