“The flexibility offered by Rath Trombones is remarkable. As I develop as a player my requirements change and my instrument grows with me. With all the options available it can feel overwhelming but the team at the factory are there to help – I’ve gone to them thinking I needed a different slide or bell to achieve a particular sound and came away with a lead-pipe instead. And who is better placed to service it than those that made it?”

Born in Rochdale, Adam is a student at the Royal Northern College of Music studying Performance. He is the Solo Trombone for The Hammonds Band and Co-Principal Trombone of The Black Dyke Band. Adam held the Principal Trombone seat of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain from 2019 until 2023.

A student of Dr Brett Baker, Adam has played Trombone since he was 7 progressing through the brass ensembles at Wardle Academy (under conductor Lee Rigg) culminating in him winning the “Outstanding Soloist” prize in the Youth Section of the European Brass Band Championships in 2019 (Montreux) and 2022 (Birmingham). In 2023, Adam was named “Best Soloist” at the French Open held in Amboise.

Though brass bands are a large part of his life, Adam enjoys performing with other groups and exploring different musical styles and genres. Entering his second year at the RNCM he is looking forward to seeing where music will take him.

Adam is proud to play Michael Rath Brass Instruments.
