Rath Trombones has welcomed the Austrian trombonist, Alois Eberl, to its growing roster of Rath Artists.

With a rich and diverse musical background, Alois has collaborated with a star-studded list of musicians including the likes of Ray Anderson, James Morrison, Bob Mintzer, Michel Camilo, and Wycliffe Gordon. He has also worked with Chuck Findley, Jure Pukl, Dave Taylor, Gary Smulyan, Dave Liebman, Thomas Gansch and Martin Grubinger.

Together with cellist, pianist and composer Anna Lang, he founded the duo Sinfonia de Carnaval. Inspired by jazz and using different elements of classical music, rock and funk, the duo creates its own unique sound world, which is also mixed with electronic sounds.

In 2021 Alois founded the quartet “Alpha Trianguli” together with Florian Klinger, Jakob Kammerer and Philipp Kienberger, with which he can musically process his inspiration from the cosmos and the starry sky.

Commenting on his passion for Rath Trombones, Alois Eberl said: “I love this trombone, because it catches different musical emotions very fast and reproduces them in an exceptional clear and focused way.

“Versatility and flexibility ist very important for me.  I do not need to change instruments for different musical styles, because the R3F always sounds convincing and tasteful.”

Alois was born in Kitzbühel in 1986 and grew up surrounded by classical music and Austrian folk music. He started playing music together with his father and in the local marching band.

At the age of 14, he continued his previous classical training in trombone and accordion at the Tyrolean Music Conservatory and there he discovered his passion for jazz and improvised music.

In 2009 Alois completed his studies in jazz trombone and classical accordion at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz. In 2012, he completed his bachelor´s degree and in 2016, he received his master’s degree in classical trombone from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
